Research Notes:
From Linda Kelsey (nee Cunningham):
Henry William Bell was born in 1825 in Lamas Norfolk, ( 1861 and 1871 census) His wife was Catherine (nee Beale). Catherine was born in Heaton. They were married on 10th October 1850 (marriage certificate) in Tynemouth. A Thomas bell was a signature and all appear to have signed their own names. Henry's father was Matthew Bell also from Lamas Norfolk. Lamas has its own website and you can locate the house name for where they lived. I have been in touch with a descendent of a neighbour of Matthew's family.
Henry was a publican first at The Black Bull Inn in Wallsend and then at the Station Hotel also in Wallsend ( census data)

Henry William died in 1872 at the age of 48-(Year 1872 Quarter December volume 10b, page 3. He is stated as deceased at the time of Robert's (my G Grandfather's) marriage to Margaret Bell.
It is likely that Henry William was a seaman before he became a publican- he was stated as a mariner at the time of his marriage and his death. Matthew Bell is stated as a gardener.
