William was the brother of Robert Bell and Mary Ellen was the sister of Margaret Bell. Living with them was Margaret's daughter (also called Margaret) and her brother Richard. The younger Margaret was 9 years old and listed as a domestic servant. Marriage Notes: William Bell was the younger brother of Robert Bell, and Mary Ellen Bell was the younger sister of Margaret Bell. Mary and Margaret's maiden name was also Bell but the two families were unrelated. Robert and Margaret married in 1884 and went on to have 21 children. It is believed that William and Mary had no children of their own but Stella Tinline and other descendants report that one of Margaret's daughters (also called Margaret) was brought up by William and Mary. In the 1901 census there is a Margaret Bell aged 9 listed as a domestic servant to William and Mary. William's brother Richard is also living with them at 4 Amelia Street, Elswick.
